"In Britain, 97% of abortions are on healthy babies"

In England and Wales 97% of all abortions are carried out under ‘Ground C’, which means there is a risk to the mental health of the mother. But even Ann Furedi, head of the British Pregnancy Advisory Service [BPAS], one of the largest abortion providers in England and Wales, has publicly stated that ‘women have to lie about being at risk of a mental breakdown and doctors have to lie about believing them’. (1)

This may be why 99.8% of abortions carried out under Ground C are classed as F99 [Mental disorder, not otherwise specified], which means the official records do not state what the risk to the women’s mental health actually is. (2)

In 2016 there were 185,596 abortions in England and Wales. The number of abortions per year has remained roughly 185,000 since 2012, having risen from an estimate 14,600 abortion a year in 1967. (3)

3,208 (2%) of those abortions were carried out on the grounds that the child would be born ‘severely handicapped’. (4)

38% of those abortions were to women who had had at least 1 abortion before. (5)

Emergency abortions are rarely performed to either protect the life of the mother, or to protect her from permanent injury to her health, in England and Wales. Between 2006-2016 there were 10 abortions carried out on these grounds. There were 2,335,743 abortions carried out for other reasons during that period. (6)
