Save the 8th has issued the following statement after tonight’s “Late Late Show” debate on the referendum:

Campaign Chairwoman Niamh Uí Bhriain said:

“Tonight, Caroline Simons and Wendy Grace laid out the stakes for the Irish people. This is not a referendum on the tragic cases – it is a referendum about whether we will legalise abortion on demand for healthy babies, and healthy mothers.

The NO speakers tonight talked about the proposal, and informed the voters. The YES speakers continued the pretence that we need to introduce abortion on demand, and that abortion is healthcare. It is not.

The momentum behind the NO campaign has grown tonight. More and more people are turning away from this extreme proposal, and on May 25th, the Irish public will give their verdict, and say NO to taking all constitutional rights away from the unborn”.
