Save the 8th has issued the following comment on this morning’s Sunday Business Post/Red C opinion poll, which shows a 10 point shift towards the NO campaign.

Spokeswoman Niamh UiBhriain said: “One trend is clear both in polling, and from our experience talking to real voters: The more the public find out about this abortion proposal, the less they like it. That is reflected in today’s poll, which is welcome news. But there is much more work for us to do to make sure that voters are informed about the consequences of a yes vote on May 25th.

The Government is proposing abortion for any reason up to 12 weeks, and a carbon copy of the UK model after 12 weeks. Ireland is being asked to copy England’s mistake.

As more and more voters discover the actual content of the Government’s proposals, they will turn away from the YES side in greater numbers. Irish people do not want a UK-style abortion regime, but that is what they are being asked to vote for.”
